Democratic Socialists of America co-chair Megan Romer affirmed her organization's most radical platform positions in a nationally televised interview on Sunday, confirming the group's support for abolishing the U.S. Senate, eliminating ICE, ending prisons and police, and granting amnesty to all immigrants regardless of legal status.

The jaw-dropping admissions came during a Fox News appearance where Romer defended the DSA's "Workers Deserve More" platform, drafted at the organization's 2025 convention and formally adopted earlier this month. The platform calls for replacing the presidency and Supreme Court with versions accountable to Congress, extending voting rights to noncitizens and people with criminal convictions, and defunding the Pentagon.

The Full DSA Platform Revealed

The "Workers Deserve More" platform goes far beyond standard progressive policy proposals. According to the official DSA program, the organization demands an end to ICE detention and deportations, full amnesty for all immigrants regardless of status, and the elimination of visa caps and quotas. The platform also calls for replacing the Electoral College with a national popular vote.

DSA membership has exploded from roughly 24,000 in 2017 to more than 120,000 today, making it the largest socialist organization in the United States. The group has successfully elected members to Congress and state legislatures across the country, embedding its radical agenda within the Democratic coalition.

Democratic Party Faces Internal Reckoning

Romer's candid television appearance has intensified scrutiny of the Democratic Party's relationship with its far-left wing. The DSA's new platform will have a formal role in the organization's national candidate endorsement process. Candidates seeking DSA support will "be expected to accept and promote DSA's program, and align their own campaign platforms with its contents to the best of their ability," according to the resolution establishing the new platform.

This puts Democratic candidates in a difficult position heading into the 2026 midterms. Any candidate accepting DSA endorsement or aligning with the organization faces pressure to embrace policies that most Americans would consider extreme, including abolishing core constitutional institutions and eliminating law enforcement agencies.

Republicans Seize on Radical Agenda

Republican strategists are already positioning the DSA platform as a defining issue for the November elections. The organization's calls to abolish prisons and police come as Americans continue to grapple with rising crime in major cities. Its demand to defund the Pentagon arrives as the Trump administration navigates complex military operations in Iran.

The DSA's immigration positions are equally contentious. At a time when the Trump administration is working to strengthen border security and enforce existing immigration laws, the socialist organization demands open borders, an end to all deportations, and full amnesty for millions of people who entered the country illegally.

What Comes Next

Romer's television appearance may have been intended to mainstream the DSA's positions and present them as reasonable policy alternatives. Instead, it has provided Republicans with a clear contrast heading into a critical election year. The organization's willingness to state its goals openly, from abolishing the Senate to ending prisons, gives voters an unvarnished look at what the progressive left actually wants to accomplish.

The 2026 midterms will serve as a referendum on whether Americans are prepared to move in the direction the DSA is charting or whether they will reject the radical transformation of American institutions that the socialist organization is demanding.
