Trump Endorses Jeanine Driscoll to Reclaim Long Island House Seat
Trump-backed Republican Jeanine Driscoll campaigns to flip New York's Fourth Congressional District, touting her experience managing billions in tax collections and promising to be the voice of Long Island's working families.
Town of Hempstead Receiver of Taxes Jeanine Driscoll secured President Trump's endorsement this week as she campaigns to reclaim New York's Fourth Congressional District from first-term Democrat Laura Gillen. The Trump-backed Republican drew on her three decades of legal experience and her track record managing over $5.7 billion in annual tax collections to position herself as the voice of Long Island's working families.
The Road to the Nomination
Driscoll won the Republican primary on June 24, defeating her opponents to set up a rematch of sorts against Gillen. The seat opened up unexpectedly after former Rep. Anthony D'Esposito announced he would not seek re-election following his appointment by President Trump to serve as Inspector General of the U.S. Department of Labor. D'Esposito had flipped the seat red in 2022 before Gillen reclaimed it for Democrats in 2024.
The Nassau County Republican Party quickly rallied behind Driscoll, who was elected as Hempstead's receiver of taxes in 2023 under Town Supervisor Don Clavin. Her office oversees tax collections for one of the largest townships in the United States, giving her direct experience managing government finances at scale.
Driscoll's Conservative Platform
In a recent exclusive interview with Breitbart, Driscoll declared herself "the voice of the people" and outlined a campaign focused on kitchen-table issues affecting Nassau County residents. She emphasized rising costs of living, property taxes, and public safety as central concerns for her constituents on Long Island's South Shore.
Driscoll has also aligned herself firmly with the Trump agenda, embracing the president's positions on immigration enforcement and economic policy. Her legal background includes decades of private practice, giving her the courtroom experience she says will serve her well in congressional debates over legislation.
The Fourth Congressional District covers much of Nassau County's South Shore, including communities in Hempstead, Oyster Bay, and surrounding areas. It has been one of the most competitive House seats in the country in recent cycles, swinging between parties in consecutive elections.
The General Election Battle Ahead
Gillen enters the race as the incumbent but with the disadvantage of defending a seat in a district that has proven friendly to Republicans in the Trump era. Cook Political Report rates the race as one of the most competitive in the nation, and both parties are expected to pour resources into the contest.
The Republican path to maintaining or expanding their House majority runs directly through districts like NY-4. If Driscoll can successfully tie Gillen to national Democratic policies while emphasizing her own local credentials and Trump's endorsement, she could flip the seat back to the GOP.
For conservatives watching the 2026 midterms, the Driscoll campaign represents exactly the kind of candidate profile the party needs in swing districts. She brings executive experience, legal credentials, and grassroots appeal to working-class communities concerned about taxes and government spending.
