Trump issued the blistering statement from the Oval Office hours after El-Sayed clinched Michigan's Democratic Senate nomination, characterizing the progressive physician's victory as proof that the Democratic Party has lurched further left than even Bernie Sanders-style democratic socialism.

Trump Calls El-Sayed Victory a GOP Gift

"Great news for the Republican Party," Trump said in a statement released Wednesday. "El-Sayed, a Communist loser who hates Jews and Israel, is the projected winner in his race with the Socialist." The president was referring to El-Sayed's narrow victory over Rep. Haley Stevens in Tuesday's Democratic primary.

Trump's comments highlighted El-Sayed's controversial positions on Israel and his endorsement by Democratic Socialists of America. The Michigan candidate has called Israel "bloodthirsty" and an "illegal apartheid regime," positions that have alarmed Jewish Democrats and moderate voters in the swing state.

The president framed the Michigan race as evidence of Democrats abandoning any pretense of moderation. "They're not even pretending to be regular socialists anymore," Trump told reporters Monday. "They're skipping straight to full communism."

Republican strategists are celebrating El-Sayed's nomination as their best opportunity to flip Michigan's Senate seat. The National Republican Senatorial Committee immediately launched attacks labeling El-Sayed as too extreme for Michigan voters.
