Fox News Poll Shows Ossoff With Double Digit Lead Over Collins in Georgia

Republican Mike Collins trails Democrat Jon Ossoff by 11 points in the Georgia Senate race, with party loyalty gaps explaining much of the incumbent's advantage.

Fox News Poll Shows Ossoff With Double Digit Lead Over Collins in Georgia

Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff holds a double-digit lead over Republican Rep. Mike Collins in the Georgia Senate race, according to a new Fox News poll that highlights the uphill battle facing the GOP in the Peach State.

The survey, released Wednesday, shows Ossoff at 52 percent to Collins' 41 percent among likely voters. The 11 point margin represents a significant advantage for the freshman Democrat seeking his first full term.

Party Loyalty Favors Ossoff

The Fox News poll found that Ossoff benefits from stronger party loyalty than his Republican challenger. Ninety-two percent of Democrats surveyed said they plan to vote for Ossoff, while only 85 percent of Republicans indicated support for Collins. That seven point gap in base consolidation explains much of Ossoff's current advantage.

Collins, who represents Georgia's 10th Congressional District, won a competitive primary in March but has struggled to gain traction statewide. His hardline conservative positions have not yet translated into the broad coalition he will need to flip the seat.

Georgia's Shifting Political Terrain

The state that helped deliver the Senate to Democrats in 2021 continues to trend away from Republicans. Ossoff's narrow victory over David Perdue in that runoff election signaled Georgia's new battleground status. Five years later, the trajectory appears unchanged.

Suburban voters around Atlanta, particularly in Gwinnett and Cobb counties, have moved decisively into the Democratic column. Collins has made inroads in rural Georgia but cannot close the gap without cutting into Ossoff's metro advantage.

Collins Campaign Responds

The Collins campaign dismissed the poll as an outlier and pointed to internal data showing a closer race. Campaign spokesman Tyler Harper said Georgians will ultimately reject Ossoff's record of voting with the Biden and Harris administrations on spending bills that fueled inflation.

Collins has centered his campaign on immigration, crime, and economic issues. He has sought to tie Ossoff to unpopular national Democrats while emphasizing his own record as a small business owner before entering Congress.

Stakes for Senate Control

Georgia remains critical to Republican hopes of expanding their Senate majority. The party can afford few losses in competitive races if it hopes to hold the chamber in 2027. A double-digit deficit in a state Trump carried in 2024 suggests the path may be narrower than expected.

The Fox News poll surveyed 1,006 Georgia registered voters from June 27-30, with a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

Ossoff's campaign has emphasized his work on veterans' issues and his investigations into fraud and waste as a member of the Homeland Security Committee. The senator has largely avoided nationalizing the race, focusing instead on Georgia-specific concerns.

With four months until Election Day, Collins needs a dramatic shift in the race dynamics. The current numbers give Ossoff room to absorb losses without jeopardizing his position.
